Golf Club Selection

Club Selection

A part of your practice routine either on the course or driving range, learn how far (within 5 yards) you hit each club. This is your first step in proper CLUB SELECTION. Once you know these yardages you have an idea what to use on a given shot. However, here are a few other things to consider:

** is that your max yardage? On a perfectly struck shot? How often do you hit it perfect? Maybe one more club would be a better choice…

** where’s the trouble? Maybe water or a deep bunker short– or O.B. over the green. Better short or long? This would definitely influence club choice…

** pin placement? If the pin is in the back of the green, short is better. If in the front, long is better. Putting is usually preferred to a chip with no green to work with. Select your club accordingly…

Golfers in general have a tendency to under-club. Let’s face it, most shots are mis-hit! Next time you play, give CLUB SELECTION your full attention considering all of these factors.
